We went to Memphis to see Tom Waits, and on top of that we got to see all the madness that is Graceland. Click on through for pictures from the VIP Tour. Oh, and if you ever go, spring the extra $25 per person to be a VIP. There’s extra water in it for you.
Once we broke free of the crushing geek gravity, the beach was a short drive away. Of course, it was nearly dark when we got there, but still… Beach!
That’s everyone’s old pal Dub Staples looking contemplatively to the west. I’ve never seen a man happier to put his feet into cold water.
While in San Diego I got to make a quick trip over to Petco park, home of the San Diego Padres. Unfortunately there was no game going on. Then again, a ballgame combined with Comic Con would (a) result in the Gaslamp District exploding from too many people and (b) result in yongi exploding from an excess of his obsessions. So really, it was just nice to get inside and see the Western Metal Supply Co. building in person. It’s one of the nicer touches in recent ballpark design.
Many, many people just got done geeking out in hardcore ways at the San Diego Comic Con. I was there, though not in costume. Click on through for more pictures.
