Scooter Indicted!

More victory for the people!

Scooter Libby’s indicted. Rove’s still under investigation.

And when the fascists start whining about “criminalizing politics” point out to them that this is, in fact, Criminalizing Criminals and not this BS strawman of “criminalizing politics” at all.

Oh, and let’s all try to remember that perjury is indeed a crime and not a technicality, ok?

Best(?) Halloween Costume Ever

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present the best(?) halloween costume ever. The official licensed DEVO® Radiation Suit, available (now at a steep discount) at Target, and maybe other places.

The costume includes radiation suit shirt and pants as well as belt and hat. Possibly shades, too. But not the whip! No! Never the whip!

It was almost purchased by Patita. But in the end, we opted to move on silently.

Q: Are we not men?
A: We are DEVO!

Victory for the Workers!

This almost got by me – Bush To Reinstate Davis-Bacon Law In Gulf Coast States

Huzzah! Of course, the fascist never should have suspended them in the first place. But at least he was forced to reinstate them. And now the workers in the states affected by Katrina won’t be paid sub-par wages just when they need a decent living-wage the most. And those corporations that get the fat, lucrative contracts lovingly handed out by our republican-controlled government won’t be able to pocket the extra cash they were going to save by being allowed to pay their hard-working employees less than what’s fair.

One small step, one giant leap.

The Houston Astros – 2005 National League Champions

Astros Logo

The 2005 Houston Astros won the National League pennant. And that’s something no other Astros team had ever acheived before. They also made it to the World Series. Granted, they didn’t win it all, but they came closer than 28 other teams. And that, my friends, is quite an accomplishment for a team that was (as no one would let us forget) 15 games under .500 back in May. (Side note: I think 15-30 is actually 7.5 games under .500, since the number of games they’d played at that point was 45, and half of 45 is 22.5 &ndash which is 7.5 games more than 15. But I digress and I’m sure baseball fans don’t care about my rational approach to math).

The 2005 Houston Astros were a team with many stories and many unbelievable moments. This is a year I will remember forever and I am proud as hell to call myself an Astros fan, even as I sit watching the other guys celebrate. Cheers to them. I hope they choke on it. I hope that somewhere down the line they all taste a little ash knowing that their victory in the World Series wasn’t entirely clean – that some blown calls and questionable umpiring paved the way to their triumph. But enough with the bitter. Well done, Chicago. And hey, on the plus side, you goons have given me some new players to hate with a passion I normally reserve for certain key members of the Atlanta Braves.

Again, I’m damned proud of the season the Astros put together this year. I’m proud of each and every one of the fine gentlemen who took to the field wearing the star. And me? I’ll be wearing my cap tomorrow and beyond. It’s what loyal fans do, you know. Oh, and it just wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t say… Just wait ’til next year!

Terribly depressing, but worth a read…

It’s not exactly an uplifting message, but it is one that should be heard.

Why Bush Is Unimpeachable

Ah well, I reckon the next iteration of representative democracy can account for what the founding fathers of the US missed.

Thank You, Sister Rosa

Rosa Parks passes away.

This is the best Rosa Parks tribute I’ve seen yet.

And the best one I ever heard was by the Neville Brothers, way back on 1989’s Yellow Moon album:

Sister Rosa Parks

Sister Rosa Parks was tired one day
after a hard day on her job.
When all she wanted was a well deserved rest
Not a scene from an angry mob.
A bus driver said, “Lady, you got to get up
cuz a white person wants that seat.”
But Miss Rosa said, “No, not no more.
I’m gonna sit here and rest my feet.”

Chorus
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.
Thank you Miss Rosa you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.

Now, the police came without fail
And took Sister Rosa off to jail.
And 14 dollars was her fine,
Brother Martin Luther King
knew it was our time.
The people of Montgomery sit down to talk
It was decided all gods’ children should walk
Until segregation was brought to its knees
And we obtain freedom and equality, yeah

So we dedicate this song to thee
for being the symbol of our dignity.
Thank Sister Rosa Parks.

It’s better with music than it is just written out. So go download it or buy it or check it out of the library or something. And dance in the name of freedom.

(More) Holy Crap!

It looks like the dick might have been directly invovled in the Plame Affair after all. Bring on the indictments, please. Pretty please with at least three-to-five for obstruction of justice on top?
