Glad to share, daddio. LRP is quite possibly my favorite REM album. And lord knows that Begin The Begin is all but definitely my favorite song of theirs. It’s the first one I ever learned to play on the geetar.
Oh, and if you don’t have the new video compilation DVD When The Light Is Mine you need it. Badly. It’s got all the wonderful early REM videos. It even has the full Left Of Reckoning mini-movie thing. And since Reckoning is the main contender for my favorite REM album, that’s a good thing by me.
The And I Feel Fine… double-disc best-of is good, too. But if you’ve got the IRS-era albums you’ve pretty much got everything on it. Though it does have the original Hib-tone versions of Radio Free Europe and Sitting Still, which makes it worth getting. Just be sure you get the 2 disc set. The single disc version doesn’t have anything you shouldn’t already own.
Ahh, I love R.E.M.! Do you know all that’s going on with this clip? It’s actually an R.E.M. tribute band that R.E.M. played with (don’t ask) called An Observatory. Apparently they released an album? Members of An Observatory include former members of The Olivia Tremor Control and current members of Sunshine Fix and of Montreal, etc.
